PLAYER PROFILE
Tom Price

The player/manger was the heart of the midfield for several years. He formed a partnership with Matt Payne that helped Rovers win the double. For many years Price and Payne were like a pair of bull dogs in the centre of the park. Price has also been labelled "Keano" for his no nonsense tackling. Now he is used as a utility man as his main focus is running team affairs.

Andy Payne

For many seasons Andy has been through it all with the team, running the line for us and watching his boy Matt play. His other son James popped up and Andy has twice the hassle looking after them both. But when Price was appointed as manager, Andy offered to be his assistant. Price snapped him up and Andy has become a very important part of the Rovers re-building. His vast experience and knowledge of the game are next to none and he was awarded with a manager’s jacket after his great impact on the team last season.

Craig Baker

Craig has been a keeper since the youth was set up. His main strengths are his communication and organisation of his defence. As well as his good handling, his goal kicks receive a lot of abuse, they can go absolutely anywhere!

Mr Reliable at right back he will use any part of his body (head, feet, chest…..tongue!) to keep it clean at the back. Always provides an option going forward on the right and is a key member of the legendary Rovers back four.

Inspirational captain of the team, Mark is a massive presence on the pitch, giving encouragement to the team (and the ref!). Unbeatable in the air and always reliable for his share of goals every year, whether it be a thumping header from a corner or a delicately placed penalty!

Joe Price

Together with Mark H, Joe is half of the Rovers centre back partnership on which the clubs recent successes have been built. Always solid at the back in the air and on the floor he even popped up with a wonder goal last year, a 25-yard volley into the top corner. Last years well earnt manager’s player of the year.

Sam Johnson

Broke into the 1st team last season after impressing in pre season, he carried on his good form throughout the year. Only a youngster, he still hasn’t worked out that he’s got 2 feet! The one he knows about, his left is always a threat from set plays and his pace down the wing and accurate crossing has contributed to many a Rovers goal last year.

Mike McCarthy

Mr versatile last year he changed positions more times than did the colour of his hair! Looked solid and put in good performances wherever he played he will always be remembered for his stunning volley against Saracens, seriously, one of the best goals I’ve ever seen! Macca’s got a hell of an engine on him and will keep running and chasing down opponents all day.

Jon Williams

Despite his pretty boy looks you can’t accuse Jonny of being a fairy on the pitch after his perfection of the 2 footed tackle! A set piece specialist who full backs love to play behind due to his defensive efforts as well. A scorer of some important goals last year and whom you can always rely on for some shower room ‘banter’!

Matt Payne

Last year’s player of the year for his tough tackling and no nonsense approach that has turned many games in Rovers favour. The type of player you love to play with but hate to play against, he would definitely be a fans favourite, if we had any! Payner also has the ability to unlock defences with his passing that has set up many crucial goals for the club.

Jon Adams

Mr Adams or "KINKY" as we all know him. Played as a defender for the team during the double winning season and was always a threat. Departed to university and then on to Thailand. On his return Kinky was being touted round the village as an available player. Price snapped him up knowing of his qualities. Kinky played as part of a 3-man centre mid last season and oh boy didn’t he revel in it. Always a danger going forward has the eye for the defence splitting pass and will always track back. Kinky also loves to score the odd goal and scored in every round of the cups last season.

James Payne

Hard to believe he’s only 17 when you see him play, Jamer loves nothing more than to beat his man and whip in a cross from the right. After having a good start to the season at right midfield he seemed to enjoy his move to the middle where his battling displays set Rovers onto a good run of form.

With his pace and determination he can break through any defence in the league and is always a threat from distance as his goal against Brockworth last year showed. He never gives defenders an easy ride with his tireless running and closing down.

Tom Herbert

Before last season Tommy Herbs had been Rovers top scorer for the previous 3 years, but injury kept him sidelined for most of the last campaign. A clinical finisher whose finest moment came when he scored the last minute equaliser in the cup final of 2004. His will be a welcome return next season to a Rovers side who struggled for goals last season

Reigning man of tour and goal of the season holder, player/coach Hamblson Santos has had a great first season for Rovers seniors. He has revolutionised training and made Rovers the best no touch turn team in the division. Equally threatening running at defences or setting up camp in the box to score tap ins, Hambo is a key man in Rovers attack.

Coops is an old fashioned kind of striker who is strong in the air and links up play well. Always puts in 100% whether it be when he goes up against a defender or practising bicycle kicks in the warm up! Tough in the tackle but never a booking, we all know what the Coops has got cooking!
